Real Students Share their Academic Goals

What are your academic goals?

Alas, we have made it! With the long, difficult year behind us, we look forward to new beginnings and a clean slate.

As we start the new year, we asked our students about their New Year’s Resolutions. Here’s what they shared:

One academic goal I have is…

High School and College Admissions

“I want to get accepted into Bergen County Academies.”

“To get accepted to BCA and achieve straight A+’s.”

“Acceptance to BT (Bergen Tech) and Academies @ Englewood”

“To improve grades and get into a good college.”

“To get into an Ivy League for science and medicine.”

With the new year comes admissions deadlines and, eventually, results. We know that our students may be nervous for what their admissions results may bring, but do not fear! Our MEK team is here to guide you through the uncharted waters.

Wondering where to start your admissions journey? If you (or your child) are in the 7th grade and looking to apply to BCA or any selective high schools, you can start with our Pre-High School Prep program, or start off with our MEK Learning Circles.

If you (or your child) are in 9th-11th grade, start with one of our virtual or on-site test events to evaluate where you need to start on your test prep journey toward college success!

Exam Prep & Academic Goals

“To score at least a 1500 on the March SAT. I have spent a lot of time trying to improve my overall scores and I am hoping that all of my hard work and long hours of studying pays off.”

“Raising my GPA a few more points.”

“To explore forensic science.”

“My academic goal is to keep my grades high and try to continue increasing them.”

“To get a 1400 or higher on the SAT, and finish Pre Calc with an A average overall.”

“I want to explore subjects that I’ve found recent interest in.”

Our College Test Prep and Academic Enrichment teams are elated to hear about our students’ goals, and are fully ready to lead them these achievements! With our live virtual courses, on-site testing and tutoring, and the support of the teachers, administrators, and leaders, all students receive the support they need to reach their fullest potential.

Study Habits & Self-Care Goals

“To be the best student I can be and be at the top of my class.”

“To expand my learning skills and preparation skills. A bit more focus on my studying and less reliance on notes during school classes.”

“To stay more focused, have more willpower to study more, and be more responsible at time managing.”

“I hope to be more stress-free.”

“I want to prioritize my sleep and mental well-being more, since I know doing so will translate into success at school, SAT prep, extracurriculars, etc.”

We know. Self-care is hard, and maintaining good study habits is harder. That’s why our academic counselors are here to guide you through the obstacles of academics, extracurriculars, and high school/college prep. Contact us to schedule a consultation so we can help you study more efficiently and, more importantly, healthily.
