The MEK Learning Circles is a program for middle school students, who are interested in taking their classroom skills to the next level through small group instruction, teacher feedback, and rigorous course material.

Our MLC classes are offered at three different levels:

  • MEK Learning Circles Standard is designed for students who are doing well in the classroom but want to learn to excel and become top of their class by mastering grade-level topics.
  • MEK Learning Circles Enriched is designed for students who need extra help in the classroom. The course focuses on teaching students communication, study, and classroom skills that will help them build confidence and excel in their studies.
  • MEK Learning Circles Advanced is designed for high performing students who have finished our MLC Problem Solving Math and Critical Reading curricula and want to apply the skills they’ve learned. This course also sets the foundation for future challenging test prep.

Our expert counselors will recommend which program is best for your child based on their Student Evaluation score, individual needs, and specific goals.

The MEK Learning Circles combine the one-on-one learning values of step-by-step concept instruction, immediate application, and instant teacher feedback with the group class benefits of active interaction and engagement. In small student groups of 8 or less, students meet with their teachers on a virtual platform to complete practice work in real time that is immediately reviewed by the instructor, as well as participating in group activities that enhance classroom interaction and engagement.

Upon completion of an MEK Evaluation Test based on Common Core State Standards (CCSS), students are placed into small groups, of which all students have similar skill levels and needs. This allows for a more individualized approach to learning, as all students’ needs will be met.

All MEK Learning Circle courses are available for students in grades 4-8. Classes are once a week for 90 minutes each.
