Our HSPT course is a fall test training class, ideal for 8th-graders planning to take the HSPT, an admission exam required by certain Catholic or parochial high schools. Such high schools use this test to gauge students’ academic performance apart from their report cards, much like colleges use the SAT/ACT.
HSPT Prep boost students scores on the Reading, Language, and Math section of the test.
Students build advanced reading comprehension skills, learn how to solve analogy questions, practice main idea and inference skills, improve their grammar skills, and build up their operations and number sense abilities.
During Fall 2020, students meet once a week through live virtual sessions, plus come to MEK campus on Saturdays to take a full-length practice tests.
HSPT is broken into two groups:
HSPT Prep Advanced & HSPT Prep
Student placement in a course is determined by their initial evaluation score, target high school list, and our counselors expert recommendations.
The HSPT Prep Advanced course is for students with a higher initial evaluation score who wish to attend top tier, highly competitive parochial schools.
The HSPT Prep course is for students who wish to attend local parochial schools.
One-on-one tutoring is also available.
At MEK Review, we equip students with the right tools for acing the admissions exams at the best high schools in NJ. Our expert teachers guide students with key strategies, proven materials, and clear objectives to lead them to success.
We monitor student progress and build up test-taking skills through full-length HSPT tests that simulate test-day environments.
We don’t just give out the answers — our teachers coach students on how to think. Each student learns strategies and skills for arriving at the right answers independently.
We teach students the strategies and skills required to master grammar rules, develop deeper understanding of challenging texts, and solve problems accurately.
We teach students to take ownership of their progress through regular monitoring and persistent communications on improvements, weaknesses, and study habits.
Students receive quizzes, drills, and homework to practice and reinforce skills they’ve learned during lecture.
For most 8th graders, this is their first encounter with a high-pressure performance test. We teach them how to handle the stress and stay mentally tough.
I got into Princeton! I just wanted to say thank you, thank you, thank you for all the hard work done on your part and the constant support I received. I would not be here had you guys not believed in me.
“With your professional and kind guidance, our son received a very high score in the writing part of the PARCC test. He has improved significantly since taking classes at MEK.”
Although it was an intensive program and it took up most of my summer, my improvements are clear, and I’m much more confident going in and taking the test than I was before the program.
