The 2026 Complete Guide to Bergen County High School Admissions

Inside the 26th Annual BCA/BT Prep Program: What Our Students Had to Say

More than 100 students in last fall’s BCA/BT Prep Program took part in our end-of-cycle survey, giving us 109 responses to learn from.

Last fall’s 26th annual BCA/BT Prep Program enrolled over 100 students, and the end-of-cycle survey collected 109 responses. Overall satisfaction landed at 4.44 out of 5, with 92.7% of respondents reporting they were satisfied or very satisfied with the program. The math curriculum scored 4.42, and the English curriculum scored 4.21.

Numbers only tell part of the story. The open-ended comments students left behind explain why those numbers look the way they do.

Practice builds confidence on test day.

Ask students what mattered most to them, and one answer surfaces again and again: the sheer volume of practice tests, simulation tests, and post-test review sessions. It was the most frequently cited strength across all responses, mentioned more often than any single teacher or topic.

One student put it this way:

“The immense amount of problems solved (around 1000–1500) trains the student properly, and the rigorous curriculum makes it less stressful on the actual test date because you know what to expect.”

Another described the effect on test-day composure directly:

“My time management improved as well as my quick thinking skills.”

Students consistently connected repetition to reduced anxiety. By the time test day arrived, the BCA test no longer felt unfamiliar. It felt like one more practice run.

Students noticed their own progress.

A clear majority of open-ended responses described measurable, felt improvement, often in the students’ own words rather than in response to a rating scale.

“I enjoyed seeing how much progress I’ve made in such a short time.”

“The curriculum of tests and essays, as well as the lessons, helped me improve my skills drastically.”

That kind of self-reported growth, offered without prompting, is one of the clearest signals a program is working the way it is meant to.

The experience was worth it beyond the test itself.

Satisfaction in this survey was not limited to scores. A large share of comments described the program as enjoyable and worthwhile in its own right, citing supportive teachers and a strong sense of community.

“I really enjoyed this course and learned a lot from it. Even if I do not go to BCA, I have learned many skills useful for the future.”

“This course really helped me for the test and was worth it. Amazing experience, and taught me loads of things school didn’t.”

Several students also mentioned “Georgie the Ghost,” an in-class tradition in one of the math sections, as something they would miss. Small details like this point to a classroom culture that resonated with students well beyond the curriculum itself.

Instructors made the difference.

Instructor ratings were strong across the program, with 10 of 11 named instructors averaging above 4.2 out of 5 on every dimension measured, including effectiveness, subject knowledge, and how much students felt their teachers cared about their success.

Mr. Pranav Gupta (Math) earned the highest overall marks among instructors with a large section size, including a perfect 5.00 on subject knowledge.

Students wrote:

“I love the way Mr. Gupta teaches.”

“I was satisfied with the techniques and knowledge that Mr. Gupta had and shared with us.”

Ms. Iulia Boboc (English) was the highest-rated English instructor in the program, with scores ranging from 4.80 to 4.95 across every category. Mr. Tony Kim (Math) earned a perfect 5.00 on both knowledge and caring for his students, with one student noting that he “fused humor with math education to help better grasp concepts.” Mr. Iramir Neto and Mr. Ivan Yang were both named together in the same comment, with one student writing that they enjoyed both instructors’ classes.

What this tells us about test prep that works.

The results from last fall’s BCA/BT Prep Program point to a simple conclusion: consistent, high-volume practice paired with attentive instruction produces results that students can feel and describe in their own words. Test-taking skill, subject mastery, and genuine classroom experience are not separate goals. When a program is built well, they reinforce each other.

Group classes for our 27th BCA/BT Prep Program are now at capacity. Private prep is still open for enrollment at our Englewood Cliffs location and virtually. If you would like to talk to someone about BCA/BT Prep, call or text +1 551-296-1806, or email mek@mekreview.com
