MEK’s High School Honors programs are designed to help students master advanced topics in challenging high school honors courses before they take them in school. We cover 60+% of the course material. Through expert instruction, carefully curated milestones based on your child’s needs and goals, and constant guidance, students learn, practice, and gain the skills to earn top grades in the classroom.

High School Honors programs are available in the Spring and Summer for Algebra, Algebra II, Analysis, Advanced Analysis II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus, AP Biology, AP Physics, AP Chemistry, and Advanced English. The courses are offered virtually and/or in-person at our Palisades Park and Closter campuses.

Our Spring and Summer Pre-Calculus course introduces students to discrete math topics in the Pre-Calculus curriculum.

 

In the Spring, students meet once a week for 20 weeks to reinforce concepts learned at school. In the Summer, students meet roughly twice a week for 8 weeks to target the next academic year’s math curriculum.

Honors Algebra is not offered this Summer 2024.

 

This Spring and Summer Algebra group course helps 7th and 8th graders ace their Honors Algebra classes by mastering key algebraic concepts and algebraic analysis. This course follows the course format and structure of the MEK Learning Circles.

 

This course is perfect for students who want to place themselves on the advanced track for high school and also gives students a head start on mastering SAT math skills.

 

Season: Summer only

The Algebra II course helps students ace their Honors Math classes in the upcoming year by learning functions as a generalized approach to graphing and solving equations.

 

This course is offered in the Spring and Summer. In the Spring, students meet once a week for 20 weeks to reinforce concepts learned at school. In the Summer, students meet twice a week for 8 weeks to target the next academic year’s math curriculum.

 

*Placement in Spring Algebra or Spring Algebra II is determined by initial test evaluation.

The Analysis course is perfect for incoming BCA/BT freshmen to help prepare them for their demanding math classes.

The Summer-only Advanced Analysis ll course is perfect for incoming 10th graders who have completed Analysis I or Advanced Analysis I at Bergen County Academies, Bergen Tech, Academies @ Englewood, or a STEM private or magnet school.

 

This course covers Pre-Calculus topics, such as theory of polynomials, trigonometry, and matrices.

Schedule: 16 sessions

This Spring and Summer Geometry course covers key concepts in geometry, such as theorems, postulates, and deductive conclusions. It fully prepares students who need to master writing proofs and employ higher-level thinking skills, especially compared to middle school math.

 

By the end of the course, 9th graders going into BCA/BT and other competitive high schools will be well-equipped to tackle their school’s rigorous math curricula.

 

In the Spring, students meet once a week for 20 weeks to reinforce concepts learned at school. In the Summer, students meet twice a week for 8 weeks to target the next academic year’s math curriculum.

The Biology course gives 9th graders going into BCA/A@E and students entering Honors Biology a strong foundation in the subject by covering the essential concepts of molecular biology. It increases their confidence by helping them to navigate the more difficult topics compared to middle school science, especially the increased amount of information and new, required lab experience.
