Why Did MEK Develop the Full-Year SpearHead Program (FYSH)?
As an MEK family, you are probably already aware of our 40-Month Project for high school students. The 40-Month Project thoughtfully guides students through their high school career with a well-organized schedule that includes “checkpoints” along the way. This ensures that students stay on track and reach important goals and milestones by their target dates.
Sometimes, even with a solid schedule, students fall behind. To help combat this and further support students, MEK developed the FYSH program. FYSH is a full-year program that works to keep students ahead of their school curriculum. When students are always a little bit ahead, what they study in school will be more of a review, which will help solidify and reinforce their understanding of tough concepts. This also puts students in a position to do even better on assignments and exams!
So, with the help of our variety of FYSH course options, we hope to strengthen your high school student’s education. With FYSH, no more falling behind in difficult subjects. We’ll keep them ahead of the curve, and make every day a success! Don’t forget, every day counts!

FYSH AP Capstone
Part of our FYSH Program is private mentoring for AP Seminar and AP Research students, in which students have access to a one-on-one research mentor. AP Seminar and AP Research are great classes to take in high school, and look great on a college application, but they can also become a little overwhelming. With a mentor’s help, they will develop a schedule with achievable milestones to keep them on target.

AP Seminar Workshop
MEK is hosting a workshop to kick off our mentorship program and introduce students to the AP Capstone program. During this two-hour workshop, students will be provided with an overview of the AP Capstone program that they will start in school, as well as 2 practice prompts to give them a taste of what their AP Research or Seminar course will look like. Our research mentors will review them and teach students the essential skills and tips to start the AP Capstone program on the right foot. Sign up here.
Next workshop date: Thursday, September 5th
