Digital SAT Prep: Changes to Spring 2024 Courses
The last paper-based SAT test was administered on December 2nd, 2023. From this point forward, all SAT tests will be administered digitally. This new version of the SAT will use a multi-stage adaptive technology, presenting questions of different levels of difficulty based on student performance as they complete the test.

With these changes, the MEK Review SAT Prep program is also changing, starting with our Spring 2024 courses.
The proven tiered program structure will stay the same: SAT prep students will be placed in the course that best fits their performance level and test prep needs. The levels are SAT Foundation, SAT 1400, and SAT 1500.
SAT Foundation
Course Structure & Contents
High performance on Module 1 of both sections is crucial to students’ scores. Students’ performance on the first module of each section will dictate not only the difficulty of the second module, but also the maximum total score that they can receive. Students who score below a certain score on Module 1 will receive an easier version of Module 2, and their scores will be capped at a score between 600 and 650 (per section), even if they answer every single question in Module 2 correctly.
The SAT Foundation course will focus on Module 1 of both sections of the Digital SAT. In this course, we will prepare students to score near-perfect-to-perfect scores on Module 1. It will focus on teaching them the necessary content and test-taking skills to definitely reach the difficult version of Module 2, thereby opening up the possibility of near-perfect-to-perfect scores on the full test.
Simulation Tests
Students in SAT Foundation will be given simulation tests every two to three classes to assess their readiness for the next level: SAT 1400. Students are deemed ready to exit SAT Foundation and enter SAT 1400 when they have successfully completed Module 1 with a score that will qualify them for the difficult version of Module 2.

The SAT Foundation class will consist of two lectures per session: a 90-minute English lecture and 90-minute Math lecture. Students will have the option of taking this course by section. So, students can choose to take just the English course or just the Math course. Students may also choose to combine different class settings to best fit their schedule or test prep needs.
For example, a student may choose to take the in-person English and Math options at the Closter campus, having class on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
They can also choose to take the English class virtually and the Math class in-person at the Closter campus so the classes are both on Wednesdays, back-to-back. For this option, students can come into the Closter campus at 5:30 PM to take the class virtually but on-site so they are on time for their Math class.
They can also choose to take the English class in-person at the Closter campus and the Math class in-person at the Palisades Park campus if this configuration fits better with their schedule.
SAT 1400 & 1500
Course Structure & Contents
Once students perform at a level that safely secures them the difficult version of Module 2, they are secured the potential for top scores. Now, they need to perfect their performance in Module 2 to reach their highest potential.
The SAT 1400 and 1500 classes will focus on Module 2 of both sections of the Digital SAT. In these courses, we will focus on perfecting skills and content understanding to minimize wrong answers and test-day anxieties.
SAT 1400 teaches targeted skills, with a different skills-focus per week. This skills-focus ranges from different types of questions to master to more concrete annotation and solving strategies.
SAT 1500 has a more holistic scope, with a primary focus on test review and advanced solving techniques for maximum scores.
Simulation Tests
Students will take simulation tests every week, before class.

Core Reading & Writing
Course Structure & Contents
Core Reading & Writing is a class that enriches students’ high school English skills, while at the same time, preparing them for future college admissions tests. This class is not a test prep class, but prepares students with both content knowledge and test-taking strategies that can be broadly applicable to ACT, PSAT, Digital SAT, and even the multiple-choice sections of the AP English Language & Composition and AP English Literature & Composition exams.
Within this 14-week curriculum, students are given three tests, taken from a variety of college admissions tests: ACT, Digital SAT, and the multiple-choice section of the AP English Language/Literature & Composition exams.

This class is not a test prep class, but helps students develop strong number sense and algebraic understanding for the interpretation of concepts for word problem solving. This foundation is especially crucial to lay down early, as the Digital SAT and other college admissions exams rely heavily on number sense and quick application of knowledge to lengthy word problems.
