Student of the Week: Erin Chung, Grade 7
August 1, 2024

Each week of summer, MEK Review teachers nominate a student to be awarded Student of the Week. This student is chosen due to his or her amazing performance, inspiring improvement, or great attitude in our Summer courses.
For Week 3, our teachers nominated Erin Chung from our Nonfiction 7 Reading class!
“Erin is a rising 7th grader who is not only highly intelligent, but is driven. As a student in our Nonfiction 7 Reading class, she is expected to read at least four articles each week, analyze them, find a common thread and then create an argument that she must research and defend; she does this every week. But Erin goes over and above by researching the internet to find even more evidence to support her arguments, including additional examples, expert testimony and statistics that she presents to us in charts.”
~Sandra Van Dyke, Nonfiction Reading 7
Out of over 545 students, Erin was chosen by his teachers to be Student of the Week because of her drive, her incredible work ethic, and her dedication to the subject matter covered in class.
Let’s learn a little bit more about our Student of the Week:
I especially like how the teachers explain each topic or paragraph clearly, and use examples to deepen my understanding about the subject.
In math, I have learned how to solve proofs using previous knowledge of theorems and postulates. In English, I learned how to analyze texts to find themes, and developed a skill for public speaking while presenting to the class.
My favorite subject in school has to be math. I thrive in a class full of formulas, postulates, equations, and other topics.
Outside of MEK, I enjoy playing golf, Taekwondo, and writing stories.
We’re so proud of our hardworking Student of the Week. We can’t wait to see what you’ll accomplish next!
