Student of the Week: Gevan Ha
July 19, 2024

Each week of summer, MEK Review teachers nominate a student to be awarded Student of the Week. This student is chosen due to his or her amazing performance, inspiring improvement, or great attitude in our Summer courses.
For Week 1, our teachers nominated Gevan Ha from our Core English course.
“Gevan Ha is a standout in Core for his active engagement in class. He takes lots of notes and asks questions, which is especially helpful in Core, despite the fact that many students are starting their college prep journey here and are often more reserved.”
-Erin Doherty, Core English
Out of over 500 students, Gevan was chosen by his teachers to be Student of the Week because he works hard and goes the extra mile in class.
Let’s learn a little bit more about our Student of the Week:
What do you like about your MEK classes?
Personally as a previous MEK student who took the BCA course I find that MEK’s strategies and approaches to learning help me feel confident in my test taking. I really enjoyed the BCA course and so I found it fitting to also take courses in the summer as well in preparation for the SAT.
What have you learned so far?
English has never been my strong suit. I often find myself struggling, but I’ve found that MEK is bringing me up to my grade level. The class has introduced me to several new English terms which I am now beginning to use in my daily life.
What colleges or field of study are you interested in pursuing?
I am interested in McGill University in Montreal, Canada as well as Rutgers.
What do you like to do outside of MEK?
I often do rock climbing both indoors and outdoors and when I’m not doing that I often play games.
We’re so proud of our hardworking Student of the Week. We can’t wait to see what you’ll accomplish next!
