Personalized Learning. Thoughtfully Structured. Purposefully Different.
Summer offers something the school year rarely does: time, flexibility, and space to learn without pressure. Used well, it can change a student’s academic trajectory. Used poorly, it simply passes.
The MEK Summer Tutoring Program is designed to help students make confident, measurable progress—while still allowing families to enjoy camps, travel, and well-planned downtime.
Programs are offered at:
- MEK ACC (Englewood Cliffs)
- MEK Closter
* Grades served 4-11
Our Philosophy: Start With Understanding, Not Assumptions
Every MEK summer tutoring program begins with the same question:
What does this student actually need right now?
Each student starts with a consultation, evaluation, and interview, allowing us to understand:
- academic strengths and gaps
- learning style and pace
- goals for the upcoming school year
- summer availability and commitments
From there, MEK counselors curate an individualized plan:
- Tutors are assigned based on academic needs and personality fit
- Curriculum and pacing are selected intentionally
- The full summer study plan is reviewed with parents before tutoring begins
A mid‑program progress check‑in is built into every plan, ensuring that adjustments happen during the summer—when they still matter.
This approach creates a safe, flexible learning environment, especially effective for students who struggle in large groups or need targeted attention to make real gains.
Private Tutoring – one on one tutoring

MEK Pod: Small‑Group Tutoring(NEW)
Some students thrive with peer motivation, but still need close guidance and accountability. The MEK Pod was created exactly for them.
Pods are intentionally small, carefully formed, and actively managed—not open‑enrollment group classes.
MEK Testing Pod – Small‑Group Test Preparation
Designed for rigorous test prep requiring consistency and shared motivation.
Program Structure
- 2-3 students per pod(ideal at 3)
- Englewood Cliffs (MEK ACC) location only
- Students matched through evaluation and counselor interview
- Grouping based on academic alignment, goals, and compatibility
Why It Works
Test prep demands stamina. When students work alone, progress can stall. In a small group with shared timelines and goals, students benefit from:
- accountability
- consistent structure
- emotional resilience through shared effort

Why Families Choose MEK
For nearly 30 years, MEK has worked closely with Bergen County families. That experience shapes how our summer programs are built—intentionally, flexibly, and always with outcomes in mind.
The students who see the strongest gains aren’t the ones who scramble in September.
They’re the ones who arrive prepared.
If you’re ready to build that head start, we’re ready to help.
