Exam Prep 8 Spring 2025 Students Survey

The Spring Exam Prep 8 course, designed for incoming 8th graders, successfully concluded its 18-week session this spring. With 54 students enrolled across five virtual classes, the program aimed to prepare students for competitive high school entrance exams such as those for magnet schools (BCA, BT), private institutions, and parochial schools. In addition to test preparation, the course also laid a strong academic foundation for 7th and 8th grade honors-level coursework.

To evaluate the effectiveness of the program, students were asked to complete a survey consisting of six questions, each rated on a 5-point scale. The results reflect a highly positive experience across all key areas:

  • Instructor Satisfaction: 4.48 / 5.0
  • Instructor Knowledge: 4.62 / 5.0
  • Class Engagement: 4.62 / 5.0
  • Curriculum Quality: 4.62 / 5.0
  • Satisfaction with Progress: 4.62 / 5.0

These scores indicate a consistent level of excellence in instruction, curriculum design, and student engagement.

Student Reflections and Feedback

Student comments provided valuable insights into their learning experience. Many noted that although the course differed significantly from their regular school curriculum, they adapted well and even enjoyed the new approach. They appreciated learning not just the content, but also how to strategically approach standardized tests—an essential skill for high-stakes admissions.

A particularly encouraging theme was the effectiveness of the virtual classroom environment. Students reported that the online format did not hinder their learning; in fact, they felt the instruction and engagement were on par with in-person classes. This feedback helps dispel common concerns about virtual learning, especially in rigorous academic settings.

The MEK instructors were frequently praised for their clarity, expertise, and ability to foster interactive and supportive learning environments. Students felt well-guided in developing problem-solving strategies and test-taking techniques.

Looking Ahead

Following the completion of this course, students are now prepared to advance to the next level of test skill training. The structured learning experience and foundational strategies they’ve acquired will serve as a strong springboard for future academic and testing success.
