New Pre-BCA Course for 7th Graders
MEK Review is expanding its highly popular High School Test Prep Program to offer a new course, especially designed for 7th graders: Pre-BCA Test Prep.
This course will allow ambitious 7th graders to get a running head start on mastering tough high school admission tests for top magnet schools in New Jersey, such as Bergen County Academies in Hackensack, Bergen County Technical High School in Teterboro, and Academies at Englewood.
The new Pre-BCA Test Prep course will also provide a solid foundation for popular standardized private and parochial admission tests such as the SSAT, ISEE, and HSPT.
Teachers and staff at MEK Review created this 20-week course specifically to address the needs of many 7th grade parents, who want to help their child prepare for the rigors of the high school test prep in 8th grade, but aren’t sure how.
“Parents of 7th graders are always asking me how they can ensure their child will be ready for difficult high school admission tests and at prestigious high schools,” said Ann Ahn, Head Academic Counselor and CEO of MEK Review. “In the past, I’ve shown them the ways in which their child must have a strong foundation in core academic areas such as advanced problem-solving, word problems, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and writing skills. However, I’m happy to now offer them a group course that will focus on these exact topics.”
The Pre-BCA Test Prep curriculum will be aligned with Common Core State Standards. Teachers will also strongly focus on teaching students strong study habits and test-taking skills, an underlying thread that runs through all programs at MEK Review.
As a result, the course has the added benefits of helping students succeed at their Honors classes, as well as on the New Jersey State Learning Assessment.
The Pre-BCA Test Prep class will meet once a week for 20 weeks on both the Closter and Palisades Park Campus. Classes begin February 5 and 6, 2020, as part of MEK Review’s Spring program.
