Who should sign up for MEK’s High School Admissions Test Prep? 

If you’re a current 7th grader starting 8th grade in the fall, then we highly recommend our summer High School Admissions Test Prep. This upcoming fall, you’ll need to start thinking seriously about high school. You’ll have to decide which schools you want to apply to and what admissions exams you’ll be taking, and above all, you’ll need to be prepared for those exams. 

High school admissions exams can help determine your entire future. These exams determine what high school you get into and what classes you get placed in, which could in turn affect what colleges you end up being accepted into. 

With the long summer break ahead of us, this is the perfect time to prepare! Once the school year starts, students become busy with school work, sports, and extracurricular activities. With far less free time, preparing for high school becomes more of a challenge. But when you take advantage of the summer break before 8th grade, you can set yourself up for success!

Exam Prep 8 

One of MEK’s most popular courses is Exam Prep 8. The reason parents and students continuously sign up for Exam Prep 8 is because they know it works! Each year, our students get into the top high schools in the region, many of them attending private schools with full scholarships. 

Exam Prep 8 is targeted towards incoming 8th graders planning on applying to BCA, BT, and/or private/specialized high schools. The curriculum includes: 

• Verbal reasoning & reading comprehension  
• Quantitative reasoning & problem-solving math  
• Developing strong number sense and algebraic literacy through targeted practice and strong reinforcement of algebraic concepts  
• Building critical reading and writing skills to have a strong foundation for future test training in a pressured environment

• SSAT: Upper Level

SSAT/ISEE Prep 

MEK’s SSAT/ISEE 8 course is for students entering 8th grade in Fall 2025, who have taken Exam Prep 8 in Spring 2025. During this course, students will:  

• Take weekly full-length simulation tests and experience real test-day pressures  
• Practice reading and verbal skills, and learn test-specific vocabulary  
• Build upon number sense and critical reading literacy to develop strong content mastery  
• Prepare to take the official SSAT and/or ISEE in Fall 2025 

HSPT Prep 

MEK’s HSPT Prep is for students entering 8th grade in Fall 2025, who are applying to competitive Catholic high schools in the fall. Our goal is not just to get you into these schools, but to get you into them with scholarships. In 2025 alone, MEK students earned over $290,000 in scholarships! During this course, students will:  

• Take weekly full-length simulation tests and experience real test-day pressures  
• Practice reading and verbal skills  
• Learn test-specific vocabulary  
• Build upon number sense and critical reading literacy to develop strong content mastery

More hybrid classes than ever! 

As you can see from the schedules above, MEK is now offering more hybrid and virtual classes than ever before! We know that many people travel over the summer, and some students are away for the entirety of summer. However, you don’t need to let your family’s summer plans get in the way of your child’s academics. Now, you can take our high school admissions test prep from anywhere! Our hybrid classes are also taught by our most experienced instructors so that students have the opportunity to learn from them both in-person and virtually.
