Student of the Week: Ella Shin, Grade 6

Student of the Week

Each week of summer, MEK Review teachers nominate a student to be awarded Student of the Week. This student is chosen due to his or her amazing performance, inspiring improvement, or great attitude in our Summer courses.

For Week 7, our teachers nominated Ella Shin from our MLC Critical Reading 6 class!

“[Ella Shin is a] hardworking student. She has kept up with the coursework despite not being onsite. [She’s also a] wonderful writer with an excellent analytical eye.”

~Jose Beltre, MLC Critical Reading 6

Meet Ella

Out of over 545 students, Ella was chosen by her teachers to be Student of the Week because of her hard work and dedication, her brilliant writing skills, and her strong ability to analyze a text.

Let’s learn a little bit more about our Student of the Week:

What do you like about your MEK classes so far?

I love how the teachers help make the atmosphere of all the classes feel inviting and welcome. I feel like I can be myself without feeling shy, and I enjoy interacting with my fellow classmates.

What have you learned so far?

Over the course of the sessions I have had so far, I have learned how to construct five-paragraph literary analysis essays. In addition, I have learned how to solve complicated math problems that really make me think harder.

What is your favorite subject in school?

My favorite subject in school is Language Arts.

What activities do you like to do outside of MEK and school?

I enjoy reading books and writing stories. I also practice my fencing every day except Sunday.

Way to go, Ella!

We’re so proud of our hardworking Student of the Week. We can’t wait to see what you’ll accomplish next!
