MEK Learning Circles Overview

The MEK Learning Circles combine the one-on-one learning values of step-by-step concept instruction, immediate application, and instant teacher feedback with the group class benefits of active interaction and engagement. In small student groups of 8 or fewer, students meet with their teachers on a virtual platform to complete practice work and review work immediately, as well as participating in group activities that enhance classroom interaction and engagement.

Upon completion of an MEK evaluation test based on Common Core State Standards (CCSS), students are assessed in order to be placed into small groups, of which all students have similar skill levels and needs. This allows for a more individualized approach to learning, as all students’ needs will be met.

All MEK Learning Circle courses are available for students in grades 4-8. Classes are once a week for 90 minutes each.

MEK Learning Circles has three different levels:

MEK Learning Circles – Enriched: For students who need extra help in the classroom. The course focuses on teaching students communication, study, and classroom skills that will help them build confidence and excel in their studies. These courses are in-person classes at our Palisades Park and Closter Campus.

MEK Learning Circles: For students who are doing well in the classroom but want to learn to excel and become top of their class by mastering grade-level topics. These courses are offered as in-person classes at our Palisades Park campus and as live virtual group classes.

MEK Learning Circles – Advanced: For high performing students who have finished our MLC Problem Solving Math and Critical Reading curricula and want to apply the skills they’ve learned. This course also sets the foundation for future challenging test prep. These courses are offered as live virtual group classes.
