MEK’s Tutoring programs take a strategic and comprehensive approach to one-on-one settings with students and teachers. Our tutoring programs consist of the following features:
- One-on-one guidance from expert teachers
- Individualized tutoring agenda based on students’ academic needs
- Periodic assessment of student progress through assignments and practice tests
- On-site testing and on-site tutoring sessions available at MEK Closter Campus
Students start their tutoring program with MEK with an evaluation and consultation to assess student needs and create a study agenda, which is designed for each individual student by the counselor and teacher. Throughout the sessions, students are periodically evaluated to assess their progress and adjust tutoring objectives accordingly. All tutoring agendas are aligned with the proven MEK Exam Prep and Academic Enrichment curricula.
With our Private Test Prep, School Support, and Academic Enrichment Tutoring programs, the MEK Tutoring Programs target all students’ academic needs to ensure student success in all areas.
All of our tutoring programs are available virtually using Zoom and Canvas learning platforms or in-person at our newly renovated Closter Campus.

MEK offers one-one-one tutoring for both college, high school, and middle school admission tests such as:
- SAT
- ACT
- AP exams
- SSAT – upper, middle, and lower level
- ISEE – upper, middle, and lower level
- HSPT
Students always begin with an initial evaluation test. Using the results of the evaluation test, our expert academic counselors and dedicated teachers design a test prep plan customized to each student’s individualized needs.
During tutoring, students will take full-length practice tests, receive access to thousands of sample problems, complete homework and quizzes – all while learning test-taking techniques guaranteed to boost their score.
Private Test Prep is for students who cannot be accommodated by group classes because of scheduling, course difficulty, or student learning preferences.
Schedule: Recommend 10-20 sessions

Unlike School Support Tutoring, the goal of the Academic Enrichment Tutoring is to give students the tools to get ahead of their school classroom. It is designed to help students meet academic milestones and prepare for future academic success.
It is essential that students who register for Academic Enrichment Tutoring are fully aware of their goals so our expert counselors and teachers can design a curriculum that meets their needs. Individual tutoring agendas are designed to be aligned with the MEK Learning Circles and High School Honors curricula; however, specific milestones are custom-fit to each student.
Schedule: Recommend 10-15 sessions

We design tutoring plans based on each individual student’s academic needs and pace. The study plan is adjusted as necessary as students progress through the curriculum.

We don’t give out the answers — our teachers coach students on how to think. Each student learns strategies and skills for arriving at the right answers independently.
Detailed Error Analysis Reports
We offer detailed score reports that analyze student performance data after each practice test and assignment, a powerful tool that pinpoints areas of weaknesses and improvement.
Constant Guidance & Communication
We teach students to take ownership of their progress through persistent communications and feedback on improvements, weaknesses, and mindset.
Independent Study Hall
Students enter the Independent Study Hall either before or after their tutoring sessions to complete assignments and quizzes in a virtually proctored environment.
Mindset Building
We teach students study habits that eliminate silly mistakes, increase mental endurance, recognize test traps, and transform them into critical thinkers.
