Student of the Week: Alison Lihanda

Student of the Week

Each of the 7 weeks of summer, MEK Review teachers nominate a student to be awarded Student of the Week. This student is chosen due to his or her amazing performance, inspiring improvement, or great attitude in our Summer courses.

For Weeks 3 & 4, our teachers nominated Alison Lihanda from our SAT Prep Courses!

“Alison is always ready to participate and constantly demonstrates how well she’s understanding the test taking strategies and grammar points as we go over them. She’s very lively and motivated and doesn’t hesitate to ask questions. Her assignments are done well and completed on time.”

Meet Alison

Out of over 500 students, Alison was chosen by her teachers to be Student of the Week because of her active participation, motivation, and hard work.

Let’s learn a little bit more about our Student of the Week:

What do you like about your MEK classes so far?

One aspect I admire about MEK classes is the personal touch they bring to the learning experience. Although I am in a room with eight other students, teachers never fail to explain questions in detail, go over extra problems than anticipated, and work with each student to ensure a thorough understanding of the material. This teaching approach not only helps me improve my learning skills, but also puts me at ease in the class environment.

What have you learned so far?

Besides learning what SAT generally entails, I have access to crucial knowledge about the exam and I am polishing up on examination techniques. For instance, I am learning better methods of annotation, effective and efficient analysis of reading passages, filtering of necessary information, and how to answer questions both quickly and carefully. I have also had the chance to review and work on my math skills.

What colleges or field of study are you interested in pursuing?

I am interested in pursuing the pre-law track in college and eventually attending law school.

What activities do you like to do outside of MEK and school?

I enjoy listening to music, cooking, watching and writing about movies, traveling, reading books, and generally hanging out with friends and family.

Way to go, Alison!

We’re so proud of our hardworking Student of the Week. We can’t wait to see what you’ll accomplish next!
