Summer 2019: Mac Porter, Teacher of the Week

Teacher of the Week

Each of the 7 weeks of summer, we shine a spotlight on one of our hard-working teachers who inspire us with their dedication to their students.

For the final week, we chose Mac Porter to be our Teacher of the Week!

Meet Mac Porter

As an English Exam Prep teacher, Mac teaches SAT, ACT, PSAT Core, and Exam Prep 8.

Mac is a Bergen County Academies and Ivy League alumus, who joined the MEK team last year.

His infectious passion for his students and his strong connection with each one inspires us to work harder for our students every day!

Quote from Mac:

“MEK meets students at their given level and seeks to challenge them to realize all of their potential. I love teaching here because of how rewarding it is to see the moment when a student realizes that he or she has what it takes to achieve their future goals.”

Quotes from Mac’s students:

“His teaching skills and the strategies he gives to us helped me increase my score from a 19 to a 33! I like how he asks us what our reasoning is for answers we got right or wrong.”

– Dilana (ACT B)

“Mr. Porter is a great teacher and very knowledgeable about the class material. I like how he goes through a wide variety of questions to make sure that any doubts, however small, are put to rest.”

– Fiona (SAT A)

“Mr. Porter is very exciting and passionate teacher. He is clearly well-versed in writing and has a very straightforward way of explaining topics.”

– Priya (SAT A)

“He makes sure to take extra time to go over questions students find difficult and is always enthusiastic when he is speaking, which draws in the attention of the students.”

– Lesley (SAT B)

Way to go, Mac!

MEK is proud of our Teacher of the Week. We can’t wait to see what you’ll do next![/vc_column_text]
