Each of the 7 weeks of summer, we shine a spotlight on one of our hard-working teachers who inspire us with their dedication to their students.
For Week 3, we chose Rachel Erwin to be our Teacher of the Week!
Meet Rachel Erwin
As the English Exam Prep coordinator, Rachel teaches SAT, ACT, SAT Subject, PSAT Core and Exam Prep 8 at Closter Campus while overseeing the training and material development for our English Exam Prep department.
Her attention to detail, methodical approach, and enthusiasm for her students inspires us in countless ways!
Quote from Rachel:
“One of my favorite parts of teaching is that moment when you watch something that seemed so hard for a student suddenly become easy. It can feel like magic but that ‘click’ moment is actually the result of a lot of hard work and planning.”
Quotes from Rachel’s students:
“I like how she incorporates some humor into examples that she uses on the board. I also like how she will keep going to one student to answer something until they learn it.”
-Paul K. (SAT B)
“She is very thorough and kind. She tells us not to compare out results with other students’ and consistently encourages us to try to be self-motivated.”
-Christian W. (SAT A)
“She is always willing to go over each question step by step and engages us by having us read the textual evidence. She always fills the board with all the important details that we should take note of.”
– Amy T. (SAT A)
“She teaches very well in that she doesn’t glaze over questions and makes sure every student knows the exact strategy and include thorough descriptions on how to use it.”
-Nathan L. (SAT A)
Way to go, Rachel!
MEK is proud of our Teacher of the Week and can’t wait to see what you’ll do next!
