The ACT Prep Course that Gets Top Results!

If you’re looking to get an elite score on the ACT that gives you a competitive edge when applying to top colleges and universities, then no run of the mill ACT Prep course will do.

You need an ACT Prep Course that is going to focus on teaching you the subject skills, test-taking strategies, and confidence building that will help you ace the ACT come exam day.

What do you need to know about choosing the best ACT Prep course for you?

First, you need to know a little about the ACT.

The ACT is one of the top College Admissions Exams, along with the SAT, taken by students in their junior and senior years of high school.

The exam is broken into four sections: Reading, Writing, Math, and Science.

All together, the ACT takes about 2 hours and 55 minutes, not including breaks and the optional 40 minute writing section.

ACT Scoring

The ACT is scored out of 36 points. Students receive a composite score which is the average of the four sections rounded to the nearest whole number. Students who take the test more than once have the SuperScore option. SuperScoring is when students average together the best scores from each of their exam attempts.

Scores are released to students 10 days after the exam, with the exception of students who take the test during the school day, who will receive their results within 3 weeks. Students can cancel their ACT score any time before or after they receive their score.

Challenges to ACT Prep

One of the major challenges of ACT Prep is motivation and a sense of urgency. Due to the ability to utilize SuperScoring combined with the liberal cancellation policy and more and more schools becoming test-optional, students have a tendency to not take their preparation seriously.

This ends up equating to inconsistent attendance, lack of participation, and less time used for studying than other tests with stricter guidelines and higher stakes.

That’s why it’s important to choose an ACT Prep course that speaks to these needs and a test prep center that understands the challenges of preparation.

What do you need in an ACT Prep course?

1. Expert Instruction

You might be wondering, why do I even need an ACT Prep course? But the answer is that while you can study for the ACT on your own, having an instructor to guide you along your journey will increase your motivation, prevent burn out, and help you get the most out of your study sessions.

Not only that, but expert instructors give you timelines with milestones to help you hit goals, monitor your progress, and revise study plans to turn your strengths into weaknesses.

When you work with an expert instructor, you have the guidance of a trained professional who will teach you test-taking strategies that you can’t learn in the classroom.

The MEK Difference: All of our instructors are certified professionals in their field.

At MEK, all of our ACT instructors are certified educators with years of specialized training in ACT Prep instruction. So, you benefit from the knowledge of classroom teachers who are experts in their field of study that also know the ACT so well that they can help you think like a test maker.

2. Quality Curriculum and Materials

You can go to Barnes and Noble and buy any of the ACT Prep workbooks, but do you know which one is the best?

When you take an ACT Prep course, your instructor sets you up with quality curriculum and materials, so that you don’t have to waste time researching the best DIY ACT Prep options.

The MEK Difference: Our curriculum is based on 26 years of experience.

Every MEK Prep course curriculum has been designed with our 26 years of experience working with students in the classroom. We know what students need, and we know what’s going to get our students the results they are looking for. Our instructors give students practice exercises to apply what they learn during class, home for independent study, and quizzes and practice tests to get hands-on experience with the exam.

3. Full-Length Practice ACT Exams

When it comes to taking a test like the ACT, taking a simulation test is the best way to practice applying the skills you’ve learned while also demystifying the test day experience. You build confidence, time management skills, and stamina.

However, not all test prep centers give you practice exams as part of their courses. And if they do have that option, you’ll have to pay extra.

The MEK Difference: We offer simulation ACT tests with every ACT Prep course.

MEK offers full-length and partial simulation ACT tests with every ACT Prep course at no extra charge to you. Exams are offered in-person on our Palisades Park and Closter campuses for a real day test experience or virtually from the comfort of your home computer. The best way to learn is by doing. Therefore, we want all of our students to take what they learn and apply it to their real world experience.

4. A Human Approach to ACT Prep

When it comes to learning styles, different students require different methods of instruction to succeed. Unfortunately, not all test prep centers believe this fact. The materials and curriculum you receive are a more cookie cutter approach to learning and don’t take into account your goals and needs. Also, if you need further enrichment, there is no room in pre-packaged curriculum.

The MEK Difference: We believe that the student is the most important part of ACT Prep.

When you choose MEK, you become a part of our family. We believe in a human approach to education, whether you’re preparing for the ACT or applying to college.

Our expert instructors work with you one-on-one to strengthen weaknesses, alleviate test anxiety, and course correct if you need further methods to improve. It’s not just about getting you to your goal score, it’s about teaching you the skills that will take you beyond test day.
